Dallas Sports Fan – Mavs Banged Up, Stars Sliding, Rangers Get Their Man
January 19, 2012 by Guest Contributor · Leave a Comment
Cowboys fans who are following NFL scores may be trying to erase the memory of their season, especially with the New York Giants heading into the NFC title game. But there are plenty going on in the Dallas area to distract them as the Mavericks are trying to navigate their way through the shortened season with a veteran team, the Stars are falling out of the playoff picture and in a stroke of good news, the Texas Rangers finally landed their big-money signing.
The Mavericks had dropped two in a row ahead of their visit to Utah on Thursday night, and most sportsbook reviews would note that Dallas was probably happy to leave the Staples Center as they fell to the Lakers and Clippers bya combined five points, both coming on late jumpers by a veteran player (Derek Fisher and Chauncey Billups, respectively). That followed home routs over Milwaukee and Sacramento, and the Mavericks will be looking to end this road trip with victories over the Jazz and New Orleans, where they’ll be on Saturday night before returning home for games against Phoenix and Minnesota. You should keep an eye on their team news as Dirk Nowitzki has been trying to play through an ailing knee, and coach Rick Carlisle may have to shut the German down. Imagine New England’s Superbowl odds without Tom Brady; that’s what Dallas’ NBA Finals odds look like without a healthy Nowitzki.
The Stars have lost three straight games as they prepare to host Tampa Bay on Friday, and all three games were by a single goal, at home against Colorado and Detroit (shootout), along with a 1-0 loss at St. Louis. They’ve also lost leading scorer Jamie Benn to an emergency appendectomy and that is a definite blow for the Stars, who are sliding down the pecking order among those that use pay head services. The Stars aren’t known for being an offensive juggernaut in the first place, so to lose their leading scorer until the All-Star break really hurts. After Tampa Bay comes to town, the Stars fly to Minnesota for a game the next day, then they have a home-and-home series with Anaheim on Tuesday and Wednesday of next week.
Texas Rangers
Some Texas fans were shaking their heads when C.J. Wilson left the Rangers to join their rivals in Los Angeles/Anaheim as a free agent, but they are in for an intriguing 2012 as the team signed Japanese hurler Yu Darvish to a six-year deal worth $60 million. The Rangers outbid the likes of Toronto for the right to negotiate with Darvish to the tune of $51 million, but now he has a lot to live up to. Some are comparing him to Detroit ace and Cy Young winner Justin Verlander, and that would help Texas’ chances among those that bet on sports next season.
Dallas Cowboys News: Off-Season Not Off to a Good Start for Bryant
January 17, 2012 by Guest Contributor · Leave a Comment
The sport betting experts try to give Dallas Cowboys’ wide receiver Dez Bryant all the credit they can. When Bryant was having problems with hundreds of thousands of dollars in money owed for jewelry, the media made sure that it reported any of the payments Bryant made. It was expected that some of his teammates would talk to Bryant about his behavior off the field and how beneficial it can be to stay out of the limelight in the off-season. But if his teammates were talking, then Dez Bryant was not listening.
According to the price per head sports experts, Bryant was detained by police in Miami Beach after he got into yet another altercation with an unknown group. It is believed that the other party was part of a rap artist’s entourage, but no details have been released. The incident happened on January 15, and it could be evidence that Bryant has not learned how to control himself and still has a serious amount of growing up to do.
It has been reported that Dallas quarterback Tony Romo will pair up with Tiger Woods in an upcoming pro-am tournament on the PGA Tour. This announcement comes as the pay per head draft experts are starting to publicly wonder if the Cowboys should think about drafting a quarterback in the 2012 entry draft. Romo’s ability to win big games has been questioned for years and his dedication to the team has been questioned as he continually puts golf ahead of OTAs and other off-season activities. The Cowboys have not made any statements yet on what it intends to do in the draft, but the inability of Dallas to make it into the playoffs again this year makes fans wonder if Romo will be the scapegoat for the entire organization.
A bodog review of the Cowboys’ roster shows that, once again, the defensive secondary is a concern for the team. For the previous two years, the sports experts have been saying that the Cowboys need to either draft cornerbacks or pick some up in free agency. To this point, the Cowboys have done neither. But with new defensive coordinator Rob Ryan now calling the shots on defense, the Cowboys may not have any choice but to start picking up secondary players. Ryan’s scheme calls for the secondary to be active and make plays. The current Dallas secondary has shown repeatedly that it is unable to do that. The hope for Dallas fans is that he Cowboys will draft or pick up players that can execute Ryan’s scheme and get the Cowboys’ defense back on track.
The news was not all bad for the Cowboys’ defense in 2011. Whether you write a soccer blog or a football blog, you had to appreciate the season that Cowboys’ outside linebacker DeMarcus Ware had. The Pro Football Writers Association and the fans definitely noticed as Ware was voted into the Pro Bowl by the fans and he was placed on the All-NFL team by the Writers Association. Ware was one of the few bright spots in an otherwise perplexed Dallas defense. The problem for the Dallas defense was that it tried to use the wrong players for Rob Ryan’s system. The Cowboys will make roster changes to bring in players that Ryan needs. But it is expected that DeMarcus Ware will stay right where he is.
Dallas Sports Fan – Mavs Rolling, Stars Flickering, Cowboys Regrouping

The NBA is starting to take precedence in the Dallas area as the Mavericks are getting hot ahead of a big week on the horizon, while the Stars have been up and down. Of course, the Cowboys are never far away from the sports betting consciousness in this area and they’re working on what to do for next season.
The Mavericks seem to be up to speed after their slow start, and they’ll have Thursday off after a week that Wagerweb reviews would rate as a resounding success. It started slow with a 22-point loss in San Antonio last Thursday, then the Mavericks dropped New Orleans, followed by wins in Detroit and Boston and things are starting to come together defensively as they held all three opponents to 86 points or less. Granted, it was against the Hornets and Pistons (two teams that aren’t very good), as well as the Celtics (who are looking old), and some players that work with sportsbook software are skeptical. But this is a team that won the title last year and if they can continue to play defense like this, they’ll be a threat to repeat. This week, the Mavericks host Milwaukee and Sacramento before heading the road for games against the Lakers and Clippers, followed by Utah on Thursday.
The Stars will be in Los Angeles on Thursday night to face the Kings, who are ahead of Dallas by two points in the standings, and those that are familiar with price per head services may say that that the team is stabilizing to where they should be: just outside of the playoff picture. They’ve won two of their last four, three of which occurred in the last week, which started with 4-1 wins in Nashville and at home against Edmonton, but they would return home for a 5-2 loss to Anaheim. Following the Los Angeles game, the Stars come home to host Colorado, then back out on the road to St. Louis, then back home for Detroit.
There are plenty of questions surrounding the Cowboys in the offseason, and the defense may be the biggest area of concern, which suffered down the stretch, but it was a few late-game losses that really hurt the Cowboys and that is a team-wide concern. Dallas will probably aim to improve a secondary which was decimated this season and they need a solid unit back there as there as the New York Giants and Philadelphia Eagles love to throw the ball. How they go about improving the secondary will be a major factor in next season’s sports betting odds.
Dallas Cowboys Update: The Changes Begin
January 10, 2012 by Guest Contributor · 1 Comment
The sports betting world is way too familiar with Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones to assume that the Cowboys will be the same team in 2012 that it was in 2011. There will be changes in Dallas, and everyone has learned to wait for the actual moves to take place because what Jerry Jones says and what he does are always two different things. One move that has already been made in Dallas is the release of defensive secondary coach Dave Campo. The Dallas secondary has not played up to expectations in the last few years, and Campo was the one that took the fall for it after the season ended.
The price per head sports experts are starting to notice that wide receiver Miles Austin has not been the same since he signed his big contract three years ago. One problem that is out of Austin’s control is the rash of injuries he has suffered, especially in the 2011 season. The lingering effects from injuries could be what has slowed Austin up this year, but his production in the two previous years was lacking as well. Some observers are calling on Dez Bryant to push the issue on who should be the number one receiver to help motivate Austin. But, so far, neither receiver has commented on what could be the genesis of another locker room battle for the Dallas Cowboys.
On the other end of the passing spectrum is quarterback Tony Romo. The fans are starting to wonder if maybe it is time to think of the future at quarterback. The pay per head sports analysts are projecting that the Cowboys may take a quarterback in the draft, but it would not be until a later round. The Cowboys have so many positions to address in the 2012 draft that quarterback is not high on the priority list. There is also the question as to whether or not second-string quarterback Stephen McGee may be the heir apparent and his time is starting to come. But all of that will be answered as the team moves closer to the 2012 training camp.
Amongst all of the disappointment and problems that the Dallas Cowboys have experienced lately, a bodog review of the Pro Bowl balloting shows a small glimmer of respect for the Dallas defense. Cowboys pass rusher DeMarcus Ware has been voted into his sixth Pro Bowl and will compete in the week between the championship games and the Super Bowl. Ware was definitely a consistent force on the Dallas defense and says he does plan on being there for the Pro Bowl festivities.
For all of the questions that still surround his play and all of the speculation about his job security next season, quarterback Tony Romo did finish the season as the fourth rated passer in the NFL. It would be a bet online scam to completely ignore the strides forward that Romo made in his development from last season to this season. Romo threw for 4,184 passing yards this year, but it was his 31 touchdowns compared to only 10 interceptions that should impress people. Romo was efficient at times, but he was not always able to get points when the Cowboys needed them. But the work that Romo has done in the 2011 season should be enough to warrant Romo keeping his job and getting the chance to be the starter again in 2012.
Dallas Sports Fan – Mavs Heating Up, Stars Staying Level, Rangers Still Hunting, And Cowboys Will Be Golfing

The NBA’s return is beginning to catch on in Dallas as the Mavericks are starting to play well after a slow start, while the Stars are staying afloat in the NHL, and Texas is still trying to sign Yu Darvish, but the big story in Dallas is, of course, another collapse by the Cowboys.
The ‘Boys completed another disappointing season with a 31-14 loss to the New York Giants at home, and sportsbook reviews of their season may state that this is one of the toughest campaigns to swallow. The Cowboys had the NFC East sewn up, but they dropped four of their last five and lost a number of games in which they led in the fourth quarter. Owner Jerry Jones has also said that he won’t step down from his general-manager duties, and it figures to be another interesting offseason in Dallas for the Cowboys and their fans.
The Mavericks dropped their first two games of the season, but smart players that are familiar with price per head bookie systems knew that the team would eventually wake up and they won three of four games over the week to get back into the hunt. All three wins were at home as the Mavericks defeated Toronto, Oklahoma City and Phoenix, but they lost in Minnesota and are now 0-2 on the road ahead of a Thursday night trip to San Antonio. Dallas returns home to host New Orleans on Saturday before wrapping up the week in Detroit and Boston on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively.
The Stars are sitting at third in the Pacific Division and are only two points out of the playoffs, and if you use price per head software, you know that the action is starting to heat up in January as teams now know what they have and will start to jockey for playoff position. Over the last week, the Stars had a three-game homestand, losing to Columbus and Detroit, but they beat the defending Stanley Cup champs from Boston, so that should give them some confidence heading into this week, when they travel to Nashville, host Edmonton, followed by road game in Anaheim and Los Angeles.
The Rangers are still negotiating with Japanese pitching superstar Yu Darvish, who reportedly has been in Texas over the last week as the talks are starting to pick up in intensity. Texas doesn’t have much longer to try and sign Darvish, whose bidding rights they purchased for $51.2 million, and there have been no reports in the media as to how the talks are going, and that means it’s tough to get a read on Texas’ online betting odds for next season.

Dallas Sports Fan – Cowboys Will Be The Focus Of This Week’s Action
If you’re an NFL fan that follows the Cowboys, your heart will be in your throat for most of Sunday as Dallas heads on the road to face the New York Giants in a do-or-die situation. Meanwhile, the defending NCA champion Mavericks are trying to shake off the rust of the offseason, the Stars are still near the top of their division and are the Rangers in the hunt for Prince Fielder?
The Cowboys have now lost three of four after a 20-7 loss at home to Philadelphia, and some Wagerweb reviews may not how flat Dallas was at the beginning of the game, although a hand injury suffered by Tony Romo didn’t help matters. Romo practiced with the injury this week and there is a good chance he’ll play when the Cowboys head north to face the Giants with the NFC East on the line, and the winner punches their ticket to the postseason. After the season they’ve had, missing out on the playoffs would be disastrous for Dallas.
The Mavericks complained that they weren’t getting enough credit from the media (and probably players that use price per head bookmaking services) for their championship last season, but they’re going to have to wake up to the season soon as they were blown out by Miami and Denver, both at home, to begin their title defense. The loss of Tyson Chandler is still taking some getting used to as the Mavericks have allowed an average of 110.0 points in their first two games, and they have a busy week: from Thursday to Thursday, the Mavericks play six games.
The Stars are second in the Pacific after a week that saw Dallas defeat Nashville at home, and then lose to St. Louis on the road before they host Columbus, Boston and Detroit this week. They also made a roster move this week as the Stars released Andrew Raycroft to make room for Kari Lehtonen, who returns to the lineup after injury. Goaltending is going to play a major role in how players that use a price per head service view the Stars as they don’t have much offense, and Richard Bachman has played extremely well in Lehtonen’s absence. Now, he’ll go back to the No.2 role.
The Rangers are now negotiating the contract for Japanese superstar Yu Darvish, but they’re still in the running for Prince Fielder, who is looking for a contract similar to Albert Pujols, who signed with the Rangers’ rivals from Anaheim. Fielder would be a massive addition to the Rangers’ lineup and he would put up monster numbers in Texas, one of the known “hitter’s parks” in the major leagues. It would also be a boost to the Rangers’ odds at online betting sites.
Dallas Cowboys Update: Now it all Comes Down to This
December 30, 2011 by Guest Contributor · Leave a Comment
Quarterback Tony Romo and running back Felix Jones were taken out the Cowboys’ week 16 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles due to injury. What surprised the online betting world is that neither key player was put back in the Eagles’ game and the Cowboys wound up losing 20-7. Now the Cowboys have put all of their eggs in the week 17 basket when they square off against the New York Giants for the NFC East title. The price per head sports experts have the New York Giants as three point favorites, but many Cowboys’ players believe that Dallas can pull out this important game and take the divisional title. If Dallas loses this game, it could miss out on the playoffs completely.
The good news for Cowboys’ fans is that Tony Romo’s hand injury is not major. The x-rays on the injury came back negative and Romo has assured fans that he will be able to go on Sunday. The potential for Romo to play is why the bookie software did not push the odds too heavily in the favor of the Giants. Running back Felix Jones is expected to play as well, but head coach Jason Garrett may have to platoon Jones and backup running back Sammy Morris throughout the game. The Giants’ punishing defensive line may take its toll on the Dallas running backs as the game wears on.
The Cowboys will enter the game against the Giants with a significant injury on the offensive line. Left guard Montrae Holland suffered a torn bicep in the game against the Eagles and will miss at least the week 17 game against the Giants, if not more. It is feared that Holland would be unavailable for the playoffs if the Cowboys should earn a spot. That presents a significant problem for Romo and the Cowboys’ offense as Holland plays on the left side and protects Romo’s blind spot.
A bodog review of the Cowboys’ left offensive line position shows that this is the second season-ending injury Dallas has suffered at that position. Earlier in the season, Montrae Holland was cut and the starting job was given to rookie Bill Nagy. But Nagy suffered a season-ending injury early in the year and Holland was brought back. Now the Cowboys have to choose between veteran guard Derrick Dockery and rookie center Kevin Kowalski. Despite Dockery’s experience, the Cowboys are expected to put Kowalski on the offensive line against the Giants.
In some positive NFL news for the Dallas Cowboys, tight end Jason Witten raised his career total receiving yards to 7,840 in the Eagles’ game which put him into third place on the all-time Cowboys’ receiving list. Witten trails Tony Hill with 7,988 yards and Michael Irvin with 11,904 yards on the all-time list. As for total career receptions, Witten is second to Irvin but only trails Irvin by 61 catches, which Witten should have towards the end of the 2012 season.
Dallas Sports Fan – ‘Boys Face Huge Visit From Eagles, Rangers Land Negotiation Rights For Darvish
December 22, 2011 by Guest Contributor · Leave a Comment
NFL fans in Dallas will be on pins and needles on Saturday night as the Cowboys welcome Philadelphia to town for a big NFC East showdown, while Texas showed they were a major player in baseball’s free-agent market. On the court, the Mavericks are preparing for their season opener on Christmas Day, while the Stars continue to shine on the ice.
Tony Romo showed why many think he is an elite NFL quarterback with a brilliant performance in a 31-15 win in Tampa Bay, but some sportsbook reviews would say that the Cowboys took their foot off the gas in the second half. Dallas was up 28-0 by halftime, but they can’t afford a drop in intensity, especially with a streaking Philadelphia team visiting on Christmas Eve. The Eagles trail the Cowboys by two games in the East, but they also trounced Dallas 34-7 in Philadelphia in Week 8, so they would win the tiebreaker if the two had the same record at the end of the regular season, and the New York Giants are still in the mix as well.
The Rangers watched their rivals, the Los Angeles Angels, snag former ace C.J. Wilson, along with slugger Albert Pujols, and they probably took a tumble in the odds with price per head companies that help set lines. But Texas swung back as they posted a $51.7 million bid for Japanese pitcher Yu Darvish, who some say is stepping into the majors as a top-of-the-rotation starter right now. At 25, Darvish has a huge arsenal of pitches he can go to at any time, and the Rangers now have 30 days to sign him to a contract.
The Mavericks lost both preseason meetings with Oklahoma City, falling 106-92 at home and then 87-83 on the road in this abbreviated preseason, but Dirk Nowitzki and Jason Kidd didn’t play in the first game and then had minimal minutes in the second as the Mavericks have their eye on the prize. Their title defense begins Sunday at home against Miami in a rematch of the Finals, and it’ll be interesting to see how the Mavericks are thought of by betting players and bookies that use price per head software. They should be favored, but the Heat are a huge public team.
The Stars are overshadowed in the city, but they’re chugging along in first place in the Pacific Division after wrapping a five-game road trip with a win over the New York Islanders and a loss in New Jersey, followed by a home victory over Anaheim. Four of the Stars’ next five games are at home starting with Philadelphia on Wednesday, and could have an effect on their sport betting odds down the line.
Dallas Cowboys Update: Sam Hurd’s Arrest Shocks Cowboys’ Locker Room
December 21, 2011 by Guest Contributor · Leave a Comment
From week to week, some football fans wonder how much drugs play a part in the play against NFL betting lines. Are the players high when they are the field? That question became a little louder when Chicago Bears’ receiver Sam Hurd was arrested on charges of cocaine possession and distribution just before the Bears’ week 15 game against the Seattle Seahawks. It isn’t the possession part that concerns fans in Dallas; it is the distribution charge that has Cowboys’ fans concerned.
There are now rumors swirling around that there could be ties to some of the Cowboys’ players in Hurd’s drug ring. Before becoming a part of the Chicago Bears, Sam Hurd was a Dallas Cowboy for many years. The price per head sports experts are not wondering if some of Hurd’s network is still in the Dallas locker room. Cowboys’ owner Jerry Jones expressed shock at the arrest of Hurd, but went on to say that Dallas had no idea about Hurd’s drug activity. Head coach Jason Garrett has said that he has seen no indication of any problems in the Cowboys’ locker room and does not anticipate any fallout from the arrest to affect the Cowboys.
Away from the courtroom, the bookie software has the Dallas Cowboys in an unfamiliar place. For the first time in a very long time, the Dallas Cowboys are in first place in the NFC East in mid-December. At 8-6, the Cowboys hold a one-game lead over the New York Giants and a two-game lead over the Philadelphia Eagles. If the Cowboys win its last two games, then it wins the NFC East title. But standing in the way of the Cowboys’ celebration is a week 16 game against the surging Philadelphia Eagles. As if the NFL schedule was not cruel enough, the Cowboys finish the season in New York to play a pivotal game against the New York Giants.
The official Dallas injury list does not include any notable names and that is because outside linebacker DeMarcus Ware was able to make it back on the field for the week 15 game against Tampa Bay. Ware’s impact was felt immediately as he recorded a sack for the Cowboys and help the team to earn a 31-15 win over the Buccaneers. A 5 dime review of the Tampa Bay game showed an efficient quarterback Tony Romo who threw for 249 yards and three touchdowns in the game. The part of Romo’s play that has the Cowboys glowing is that Romo threw no interceptions.
The Cowboys look healthy and ready to play for the NFC East title and push its way into the playoffs. It is not over yet as none of the NFC East teams will probably qualify for any of the NFC wild card spots. The only way that the Cowboys, Giants and Eagles are making the playoffs is as the NFC East champions. Since there can be only one division champion, that will make these last two weeks of the season very interesting.
Dallas Round Up – A Busy Week For Dallas Sports Fans
December 15, 2011 by Guest Contributor · Leave a Comment
The NFL is sharing the spotlight in Dallas this week as the Stars are getting hot, the Mavericks are trying to make moves for their title defense and the Rangers are plotting their next attack as well.
The Cowboys fell 37-34 to the New York Giants at home, and Wagerweb reviews of this game may state that it just felt like a game that Dallas would lose. They were up by 12 with 3:14 to go, but the Cowboys made a few mental mistakes down the stretch and now they’re tied with the Giants for the lead in the NFC East. Dallas has to shake this loss off quickly as they’re in Tampa Bay on Saturday night and this is a game they need to have to keep pace in the East.
The Stars are atop the Pacific Division as of Thursday, when they’ll be in New York to face the Islanders, and they had won two in a row after blanking the Rangers 1-0 on Tuesday. Those who order price per head bookmaking software are slowly getting back in the Stars’ bandwagon after a rough patch that involved a slew of injuries, and goalie Richard Bachman has been solid over the past two games as Dallas wraps up their road trip in New Jersey on Friday. The Stars have the weekend off before hosting Anaheim and Philadelphia next week.
The Mavericks already look different from the team that won the title over Miami as Tyson Chandler is gone (New York), as is playoff sparkplug J.J. Barea (Minnesota). Chandler should be the biggest difference-maker among those that purchase pay head service as his defense was a massive factor in last season’s win, but the Mavericks picked up Lamar Odom, which weakens their rivals, the Los Angeles Lakers and gives the Mavericks some flexibility. Dallas also signed Vince Carter and while he is obviously past his best, he can provide some scoring off the bench.
The Rangers are another team aiming to make some noise in the offseason, although they’ve already been a player who came out on the wrong end of the C.J. Wilson deal as he signed with the Los Angeles Angels, Texas’ American League West rivals who also signed Albert Pujols. The Rangers are now trying to strike a deal with Derek Holland, whom the Rangers would like to step up to the top of the rotation in place of Wilson. Holland is arbitration-eligible now and would be a free agent in 2015, but after Wilson left, the Rangers would like to tie him up and give themselves a chance to boost their online wagering odds.
