The winner of the Byron Nelson golf tournament will walk away with $1,170,000 and 500 FedExCup points. Tiger Woods Apology: I am truly sorry

The most interesting part of the Press Conference is that Tiger Woods announced that he is returning to therapy and is not returning to the PGA Tour in the near future, however he did say that he is not ruling out a return to the PGA Tour this season. Tiger Woods issued his apology to the world today, he was clearly reading a well written speech from a piece of paper. However Tiger did look up from his paper when he apologized which made it a little better. He apologized to:

• Elin & Family
• Fans
• Sponsors
• Charity / Foundation

Tiger Woods said that his transgressions started when he drifted from away from buddhism which his mom has taught him since he was a young boy.

Props should be given to Tiger Woods for being a man and finally defending his wife and publicly apologizing to his family. However a little bit is always lost when you apologize from a speech that is written on a piece of paper, and lose your place a couple of times.

After a scintillating British Open (even without Tiger Woods making the cut), the 2009 PGA Championship is coming up fast, set to begin August 13 at Hazeltine Golf Club in Minnesota. Tiger Woods will be looking to rebound after only the second missed cut in a major in his career.

Hazeltine has hosted big championships before, with the 1970 and 1991 U.S. Opens both being held there along with the 2002 PGA Championship.

Padraig Harrington is trying to defend his title in the 2009 PGA Championship, but has struggled with swing changes this year and that was evident at the British Open, opening at -1 but finishing at +12.

With the release of Madden ’10 looming on the horizon and NCAA Football ’10 still fresh on the shelves, it seemed like the perfect time to break out a list. What list? The ten best sports video games ever conceived by mankind.

2009 British Open TV Schedule

The 2009 British Open should be one for the books. Besides returning to Turnberry, the site of one of the most famous tournaments in golf history (Watson against Nicklaus in the 1977 “Duel in the Sun”), the championship gets a boost from Tiger Woods, returning after missing last year’s Open Championship. But in order to win the 2009 British Open, he’ll have to beat the two-time defending champ, Padraig Harrington.

Phil Mickelson will not be competing in the 2009 British Open, deciding instead to stay home with his wife Amy, who is battling breast cancer. The last few years have been nothing short of outstanding, even including Harrington’s four shot win last year. That may seem like a huge margin on the surface, but the tournament was quite intriguing with Greg Norman making a bid for his third major championship. Who will surprise at the 2009 British Open? The Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial or simply the Colonial is one of four invitational tournaments held on the PGA Tour. The Colonial Tournament is played annually in Fort Worth, Texas at the Colonial Country Club, and is the longest running event to be played at its original site.

Last years winner Lefty Phil Mickelson will not participate in this years Colonial Tournament. Mickelson’s wife was diagnosed with breast cancer and Phil wants to be there to care for her and his kids. Lefty has suspended his 2009 schedule indefinitely.

The 2009 Byron Nelson Golf Championship

The Four Seasons Resort and Club Dallas, which is located in Las Colinas, Texas will host the 2009 HP Byron Nelson Golf Championship. The Byron Nelson Golf Tournament was established in 1944 and is the 9th longest running US PGA Tour event. Byron Nelson won the 1944 Byron Nelson Golf Tournament, which was called The Texas Victory Open by 10 strokes. The Lakewood Country Club was the course for the first Byron Nelson Golf Tournament.

This year’s field is strong even though “Lefty” Phil Mickelson has decided not to participate due to his wife’s sudden diagnosis with breast cancer. Mickelson has suspended his tour schedule indefinitely to care for his wife and children.

Adam Scott won the 2008 Byron Nelson Golf Championship, but has struggled as of late missing cuts at his last 5 tournaments.
