Dallas Sport Fan – Mavs Snap Out Of It, Stars On Thin Ice, Romo Tees It Up With Tiger, Rangers Tie Up Important Players
If you write a soccer blog in Dallas, the MLS season hasn’t started yet, so fans of FC Dallas still have some time to focus on the other teams in the area. The defending champion Mavericks are rounding into form, the Stars are trying to stay within shouting distance of the playoffs, the Rangers are still improving their team, while the Cowboys’ quarterback is making news off the field this week, but in a good way.
The Mavericks lost two of their three games last week, falling to Indiana and at Cleveland, but they snapped a three-game skid with a victory in Denver on Wednesday night, and a Bodog review of Dallas’ early season would state that they’ve done pretty well in the face of injuries, and they still don’t have Jason Kidd back, although he could be back on the weekend as the Denver game was the sixth that he’d missed. This week coming, the Mavericks head to Minnesota on Friday night before returning home to host Portland, the Los Angeles Clippers and the Nuggets.
Dallas has picked themselves up after a five-game skid last month, but players that purchase bookie software should still be skeptical of their playoff chances despite being only two points out of eighth place. The Stars were thumped in San Jose last Thursday before they bounced back for a shootout win in Minnesota, but then they were handled at home by Phoenix and the Stars are now struggling to find consistency down for the stretch run. This week’s slate sees the Stars going to Columbus and Buffalo for back-to-back games, then they host Los Angeles before travelling to Detroit to wrap up a busy week.
The Cowboys are still looking at ways to improve their status among those that work with price per head sports services, but it is a long offseason and the players are unwinding. Quarterback Tony Romo loves to play golf and he is pretty good, almost qualifying for the U.S. Open in recent years, and he will be paired up with Tiger Woods at the star-studded AT&T Pebble Beach National at venerable Pebble Beach. Woods is resuming his chase for the all-time major-championship record, and he has had high praise for Romo’s golf game as well, so this will get a lot of attention over the weekend.
The Rangers are tying up some of their players after the Yu Darvish signing, as they agreed with Elvis Andrus on a three-year, $14.4 million deal and they’re working on re-signing Nelson Cruz, whose big bat was a major factor in their postseason run which ended in a second consecutive loss in the World Series. The Rangers are going to be in tough in the West as the Los Angeles Angels reloaded with Albert Pujols and former Texas ace C.J. Wilson, so you may even be able to find some value on their World Series odds at places like Bodog.
Dallas Sports Fan – An In-Depth Look At The Cowboys’ Preseason Opener
August 18, 2011 by Guest Contributor · Leave a Comment
Even MLB baseball betting players have to understand that in Dallas, the Cowboys rule the headlines, even though Texas was in the World Series last year and the Mavericks just won the NBA title. The Cowboys have just one playoff win since 1996, but they’re still the stars of the city and they opened their preseason slate last Thursday at home against Denver, coming away with a last-minute victory.
It was just good to see Tony Romo back on the field after he missed most of last year with a broken clavicle, and he went 3-of-5 for 33 yards in a 24-23 victory. You knew that Romo wasn’t going to play a lot, especially in the first game, but it was still comforting for coach Jason Garrett to see him executing the offense. Stephen McGee had a huge game, going 14-of-24 for 208 yards, three touchdowns and a pick and he also added 25 yards on four carries, showing NFL betting players that Jon Kitna may have a little competition for the backup role. The Cowboys got some production from Philip Tanner on the ground as Tashard Choice and rookie DeMarco Murray were injured, although they should be ready to go for Sunday’s contest against San Diego, also at home.
Defensively, the Cowboys allowed the Broncos to throw for 238 yards and a score, which shows that they still have a lot of work to do in the secondary, an area that was torched last season. The Broncos also ran for 119 yards, but we should get a clearer picture of how the Cowboys stack up this week as the starters didn’t get much time. The secondary also received some bad news as cornerback Terence Newman has a groin issue and it’s up in the air whether he’ll be in the lineup for the regular-season opener, so keep an eye on that situation.
Those making NFL betting picks shouldn’t take too much from this game, which is basically a glorified scrimmage, but it was good to see McGee getting some reps and leading a drive that resulted in a score with 15 seconds left to win the game. He needs as much confidence as possible because let’s face it, Kitna isn’t going to be around forever (although we keep saying that). The Chargers will be a better test for the Cowboys as the Broncos don’t have a great defense, and San Diego’s unit was ranked first in the league last season. Still, it was a solid performance for the Cowboys to get their season off on a positive note, and they didn’t harm their online sports betting odds with their effort.
Dallas Sports Fan – Rangers Take Center Stage, FC Dallas Looks To Gain Fans

With no NFL betting picks to make, players in the Dallas area are looking for other ways to occupy themselves, especially with the NBA and NHL seasons concluded as well. That means the Texas Rangers should be the focus of the summer, but don’t forget about the city’s MLS team that is a legitimate threat to win the league title.
Texas Rangers
The Rangers are off on Thursday, and they’ll take a two-game lead over Seattle into their off-day. Texas bounced back from a five-game skid by winning four of their six games over the last week, taking two of three in Atlanta, and then doing the same at home against state rivals Houston. Nelson Cruz, Josh Hamilton and Mitch Moreland hit two homers each over the week, while Cruz hit .400 as well, while Colby Lewis had a big week, going 1-0 in two starts with a 1.32 ERA. If there was a negative, it’s that closer Neftali Feliz blew his fourth save of the season in a 5-3 loss to the Astros, but the Rangers still have plenty of faith in him. Betting players will likely see the Rangers favored a few times over the next week as they’ll welcome the New York Mets to town on Friday for a three-game series, while the Astros come to the Ballpark on Tuesday for another three-game set.
FC Dallas
While some in the area are looking forward to NHL free agency due to the Brad Richards situation, soccer betting should get some attention as FC Dallas is following out their trip to the MLS Cup finals last season, which ended in an extra-time loss to Colorado, by getting off to a good start in the 2011 campaign. FC Dallas trails Los Angeles by six points in the Western Conference, and they’re coming off a 2-1 win at Chivas USA, thanks to goals by Jackson and Brek Shea, who has now scored in two straight matches and is tied for sixth in MLS in scoring with five tallies. Dallas returns home on Saturday to take on Portland at Pizza Hut Park, and they are out to avenge a 3-2 loss in the northwest region back on April 17th in which FCD scored two late goals, but their furious comeback rally came up just short. Dallas is favored at -180 while Portland comes in at +475, and given Portland’s struggles on the road (no wins in six games), Dallas should come away with the win as they try and close the gap on the Galaxy. While you’re browsing your sportsbook on Saturday, it wouldn’t hurt to back Dallas in your online betting picks.
Chevrolet and Transformers 3 Super Bowl Commercials

One of the many reasons we watch the Super Bowl are the commercials, why wait until the Super Bowl to see them?. Chevrolet and Transformers have teamed up to bring you their Super Bowl commercials early, so don’t wait until the game to see these when you can watch them on the Chevrolet YouTune channel right now.
My favorites were the Al’s Chevrolet spot and the Miss Evelyn spot. Which spot did you like? Comment below.
In full disclosure, this post is part of a sponsorship campaign with Chevy/GM in coordination with Lijit Networks, Inc. for SuperBowl XLV. I received compensation for these posts, but the opinions expressed here are my own.

Cowboys 2011 – 2012 Schedule & Opponents
January 4, 2011 by Matt Lawrence · 3 Comments
The 2010 – 2011 season is finally over, what a disappointing season right from the start. Only two good things came from the 2010 season, the removal of Wade Phillips and the 9th round pick in the upcoming 2011 draft. Jason Garrett filled in pretty nicely as the interim head coach and he will be coaching the team next year (something I am not really excited about).
Enough about last seasons disappointment, let’s take a look at the Dallas Cowboys 2011 – 2012 schedule. Last year I provided a prediction for each game, which was so far from being right I decided to take a new approach. Instead I will go through the 2011 – 2012 schedule of home and road game opponents taking a look at their records and where they are headed next year.

Dallas Stars TV Channel & Times for January
December 21, 2010 by Matt Lawrence · Leave a Comment
The Dallas Stars have surprised the entire NHL with there record this year, however the fans are not coming to the American Airlines Center to watch the games. One of the main reasons for this is with the departure of Marty Turco and Mike Modano, there are really no household names for the fans to root for. Hockey fans know who Brad Richards and the rest of the crew, but the team is lacking a player that can get non hockey fans to the games.

Week 15: Dallas Cowboys vs Washington Redskins
December 15, 2010 by Matt Lawrence · 2 Comments
The Dallas Cowboys will play the Washington Redskins in NFL Week 15. The Redskins are a mess to say the least. The Redskins Head Coach Mike Shannahan has had trouble getting some of his big name players in line this season. The Redskins have struggled all year, and the distractions that McNabb and Haynesworth created have only made things worse. The Redskins have lost 3 straight, and it could very easily be 4 on Sunday.
The Cowboys on the other hand have been playing a lot better under Jason Garrett‘s more detail oriented system, but the team is still guaranteed a losing record. Does anyone else remember the beginning of the season when we were talking playoffs?
Las Vegas is taking the Cowboys by 6, and that might be a little conservative considering how both of these teams have been playing lately. Look for the Cowboys to come out and make a statement this week. However even if Dallas blows out the Redskins it might not be enough to save Jason Garrett’s job. Jerry has been mysteriously silent about next years coach. You can find the Cowboys vs Redskins TV Channel, Time and TV Announcers below:

What does Cliff Lee to the Phillies Mean for the Rangers?
December 15, 2010 by Matt Lawrence · Leave a Comment
So what does Cliff Lee going to the Philadelphia Phillies mean for the Texas Rangers? It is not as bad for the Rangers as you think.
Since the Rangers didn’t give a monster contract to Cliff Lee, there will now be enough money to keep the current roster in tact. The Rangers could add another starting pitcher by trading prospects or sign one of the free agent pitchers left on the market. The Cliff Lee deal would have been great for the next couple of years, but the last 2-3 years of the deal he would most likely be on the decline. So money wise the deal would have been worth it in the short-term, but a burden to the Rangers in the long-term.
Talk has moved on to the possible trade options: Zach Grienke, current Kansas City Royals ace and Matt Garza of the Tampa Bay Rays who is more of a number 2 guy. Either of these moves will probably cost the Rangers part of the long-term future, just like the Cliff Lee deal would. Both of the Rays and Royals will ask for too much, and for this reason I think that Jon Daniels will end up targeting the free agent market for starting pitchers with an upside that can be had at a decent price.
