Dallas Mavericks vs. San Antonio Spurs Playoffs 2009

The first Dallas Mavericks playoff home game is April 23rd at the American Airlines Center at 7:30pm, and some game tickets are still available. If the series continues the way it went in game 1, the Mavericks are on course to sweep the series. If you have not seen the Mavericks play this season, now is your chance to cheer them on in the playoffs, so get you tickets now before they are all gone.

Game 1
April 18th, 2009 | at San Antonio | Dallas 105 San Antonio 97

Dirk Nowitzki, Jason Kidd, and Jason Terry were held to only 35 points combined in the Mavericks 2009 playoff debut. The Mavericks road win came thanks to the play of an injured Josh Howard, J.J. Barea, Josh Howard and the rest of the Dallas Mavericks bench.

San Antonio looked apathetic, Manu Ginobili is out for the season and Tim Duncan has ailing knees. This has forced Tony Parker to carry the load for the Spurs this season.

Game 2
April 20th, 2009 | at San Antonio | Dallas 84 San Antonio 105

The Dallas Mavericks were unable to stop Tony Parker in game 2. J.J. Barea was unable to repeat his defensive performance in game 1 allowing Tony Parker to score 38 points. Parker also had 4 rebounds, and 8 assists in the Spurs blowout of the Mavericks.

The Mavericks head home to Dallas for game 3. Game 1 was the Mavericks first playoff road game in 3 years. The first two games took place in San Antonio and the series is now tied 1-1.

Game 3
April 23rd, 2009 | at Dallas Mavericks | Dallas 88 San Antonio 67

The Dallas Mavericks put the game out of the San Antonio Spurs reach in the first quarter of game three. Unable to mount a comeback, the Spurs starters were warming the bench shortly after halftime. Tim Duncan and Tony Parker did not return to action, the Spurs simply gave up. Parker and Duncan will be rested for game 4 which will be played at the American Airlines Center on Saturday.

Game 4
April 25th, 2009 | at Dallas Mavericks | Dallas 99 San Antonio 90

Mavericks won game 4 despite allowing Tony Parker to score 43 points. Dirk Nowitzki and Jason Terry were held to 22 points combined, but Josh Howard picked up the slack scoring 28 points on a bum ankle. The Mavericks will return to San Antonio with a chance to close out the series.

Game 5
April 28th, 2009 | at San Antonio | Dallas 106 San Antonio 93

The Mavericks closed out the series in San Antonio, Dirk and Jason Terry resurfaced on the stat sheet as the Mavs leading scorers. Tim Duncan and Tony Parker had nice games but the lack of Manu Ginobli turned out to be to much to recover from. Dallas will face the Denver Nuggets in the second round of the 2009 NBA Playoffs.
