Dallas Mavericks vs San Antonio Spurs: Game 2

The Mavericks looked sharp in game 1 as they cruised to a victory over the San Antonio Spurs. The Spurs bench was terrible, and the acquisition of Richard Jefferson is looking more and more like a bust by the day. Dirk scored 36 points, and I expect him to have one of his best playoff series ever because San Antonio doesn’t have anyone who can cover him.

Look for much of the same in game 2 at the American Airlines Center on Wednesday, if you look at the +/- for the Spurs starters, their best player was Tim Duncan at 0. In comparison the Mavericks best starter was Caron Butler with +10. In order for the Spurs win, they will need to play pretty much perfectly, and I don’t see that happening.

In game 2 I believe the Spurs will have to run more double teams at Dirk to try to keep the game closer, but if they do Caron Butler and the rest of the team will be left open. With Jason Kidd at the point I feel pretty good about the Mavericks being able to beat any double teams that San Antonio at them.
