Dallas Sports Fan – Rangers Face Huge Week, Cowboys Prepare For Regular Season

September 1, 2011 by · Leave a Comment

While fishing fans get ready for the final long weekend of the summer, most sports betting players will be gearing up for a big week when it comes to the Texas Rangers, who are about to embark on a road trip that could make or break their season. Meanwhile, the Dallas Cowboys will line up for their preseason finale on Thursday night.

Texas Rangers

While the Rangers are still the MLB betting favorites to take the American League West, they can’t take their foot off the gas yet as they’re only up on the Los Angeles Angels by 3.5 games after winning two of three against the Angels last weekend. The Rangers followed up that series by splitting the first two games of their series at home against Tampa Bay, with the finale going off on Thursday night. It won’t get any easier over the next week as well as the Rangers will board a plane after the Tampa Bay game and head straight to Boston for a crucial three-game set against the Red Sox in a clash of two teams with real aspirations of claiming the American League pennant. Then, the Rangers will head to Tampa Bay for another meeting with the Rays, and they can’t afford to slip up with the Angels hot on their heels.

Dallas Cowboys

If you make NFL picks, the third game of the preseason is the game you should watch as teams gave their starters as much work as they’ll receive before the regular season kicks off next week. The Cowboys came away with a 23-17 win in Minnesota, a place that has given them all kinds of trouble in the regular season, so hopefully, they’ll have some confidence for their next trip to the Midwest. Tony Romo was 15-of-20 for 141 yards, while Dez Bryant had five catches for 67 yards, and it isn’t a stretch to think that Bryant could be the breakout player of the year if Romo can stay healthy. Some NFL fans and analysts are skeptical of Bryant because of a few off-field problems, but Bryant is incredibly talented and has the potential to be the Cowboys’ No.1 receiver at some point this year, even with Miles Austin and tight end Jason Witten on the field. The Cowboys will wrap up their preseason in Miami as they look to fill out their roster, so don’t expect to see the starters on the field for very long, at most, a series or two. Look for the center position to be an area of focus as Dallas released Pro Bowler Andre Gurode, and since the Cowboys have to keep Romo on the field after last year’s broken clavicle, the line will be a crucial element of their sports betting odds.

Dallas Round-Up – Mavs Prepare For Playoffs, Stars Still Hanging On, Rangers Off To Hot Start

April 7, 2011 by · Leave a Comment

Kentucky Derby betting will be big in Texas, but it’s not for a month, and there is a lot to deal with leading up to the “Run For The Roses”, specifically in Dallas where the Mavericks are trying to hold onto the third spot in the West, while the Stars are just trying to reach the postseason. The Rangers are proving that their American League pennant was no fluke last year, and they’re ready to defend their title.

Dallas Mavericks

Those watching NBA scores have seen the Mavericks start to slide at the wrong time of year as they’ve lost four in a row ahead of their Friday night meeting with the Clippers, falling on the road to the Lakers, in Golden State and in Portland, and then they lost at home to Denver. The Mavericks are a game ahead of Oklahoma City for the third spot in the West, but they have to get their game together because they only have four games left in the regular season, beginning with their Friday game against the Clippers. On Sunday, Phoenix comes to town, then the Mavericks visit Houston the next night. Finally, Dallas ends the regular season at home against New Orleans.

Dallas Stars

The Stars were blanked 6-0 in San Jose last Thursday, and then went on to lose in Los Angeles before ending their West Coast swing with a win in Anaheim. Dallas returned home to beat Columbus and are now four points behind Chicago for the final playoff spot in the West, and you don’t need a 5dimes review to tell you that the Stars have their work cut out for them because they need the Blackhawks to drop points, and then they need to take advantage of their last three games, a home-and-home against Colorado, then the Stars finish the season in Minnesota. It’s possible, but a lot of things need to bounce Dallas’ way for the postseason to happen.

Texas Rangers

The Rangers got off to a great start in 2011 with their six-game homestand by sweeping Boston and Seattle at the Ballpark, belting 13 homers, and four of those were by Nelson Cruz. The Red Sox is a big feather in their cap as many people are picking Boston to win the American League and the World Series, and even though it’s only early in the season, it has to be a boost to the Rangers’ confidence. Now, the Rangers will head out on the road beginning on Friday for a three-game set in Baltimore, where the Orioles are also off to a good start, and then Texas is in Detroit for three games. Be sure to check out their odds at your favorite sports betting sites.

Dallas Round-Up – Mavs Streaking, Stars Flopping, Rangers Starting Season, Bryant Making Waves

March 31, 2011 by · Leave a Comment

Those looking to bet on March Madness will have a lot to distract them while waiting for the Final Four to tip off on Saturday as the Dallas area is loaded with stories in all four major professional sports. The Mavericks is aiming to improve their playoff position, while the Stars are just trying to get into the postseason. Texas will begin their defense of their American League pennant on Friday, and a Cowboys’ receiver can’t keep his name out of the headlines.

Dallas Mavericks

The Mavericks are a half-game behind the Lakers for second place in the West, which makes Thursday’s showdown in Los Angeles that much more important. The Mavericks have won five in a row heading into this game, including the first three of their six-game road trip in Utah, Phoenix and the first part of their Los Angeles doubleheader against the Clippers. Dallas looks to be getting everyone back and healthy at the right time of year, and they’ll finish out the week at Golden State and Portland on Saturday and Sunday, respectively and then they’ll return home on Wednesday to host Denver as they look to improve their NBA odds.

Dallas Stars

The Stars are slumping badly heading into their Thursday visit to San Jose, and they’ll take a four-game skid into that matchup. They’ve lost three of those games via a shootout or overtime, and if they miss the playoffs, the Stars will undoubtedly look back at this stretch. It won’t get any easier for the Stars as they stay in California for the weekend, going to Los Angeles on Saturday and Anaheim on Sunday, before Columbus and Colorado come to town on Tuesday and Thursday, respectively, for a pair of NHL betting matchups.

Texas Rangers

The MLB season is finally upon us with Opening Day on Thursday, but the Rangers don’t start their 2011 campaign until Friday, when they welcome the Boston Red Sox to the Ballpark in Arlington, giving the ball to C.J. Wilson. The Red Sox will counter with Jon Lester, and this figures to be a big three-game series as Boston looks to be one of the main challengers to Texas’ American League crown. Not many are picking the Rangers to repeat, especially with Cliff Lee heading to Philadelphia, so Texas will want to make an early statement. After the Red Sox, Seattle will come to town for three games from Monday to Wednesday.

Dallas Cowboys

Of course, there is no football action to report and the lockout is still going, but receiver Dez Bryant continues to make headlines. Last week, it was the saggy-pants fiasco in a mall. This week, it was reported that the second-year wideout has major debt problems, totaling in the six-figure amount. And again, it’s nothing for Cowboys fans to worry about. If anything, when the season starts, Bryant will be motivated to play even harder, and that will boost the Cowboys’ sports betting odds.

Josh Hamilton Home Run Derby

The Rangers got bumped from first place due to a power outage in their batting lineup. Although their 11 wins and 15 losses is not bad considering the lack of offense they displayed in June. July brings the All Star Break and the return of Josh Hamilton will hopefully allow the Rangers to turn their current slide around. Hamilton is currently on a rehab assignment with the Texas Rangers various minor league teams including the Frisco Rough Riders and is expected to return in early July. Julio Borbon the Ranger’s center field prospect is now up with the team and their have been rumblings that pitching prospect Neftali Feliz is on his way to the Texas Rangers Bullpen.

Texas Rangers Schedule – TV & Tickets
The Rangers will be on Fox Sports Southwest for most of July except for the lone game on ESPN against the Rays. The Rangers will host the Rays on the 4th of July, and Rangers Tickets are still available for this game and others.

Texas Rangers

The Rangers continued their winning ways in May, posting a 20 and 9 record and holding on to the number 1 spot in the AL West. The Texas Rangers will face the Yankees, Red Sox, Blue Jays, and Dodgers in June. This stiffer competition will be a good month to use as a barometer for how good this team actually is. To begin June the Rangers will go on the road to play the Yankees and then the Red Sox. Josh Hamilton had an MRI Monday 6/1, and the Texas Rangers are waiting to see the results. Hopefully Hamilton does not end up on the DL for the second time this season.
