The PGA Tour will continue the 2010 Texas swing this weekend at the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial and the playing field will have some significantly bigger names. Some of the bigger name golfers that will be playing in the 2010 Colonial Golf Tournament include: Angel Cabrera, Stewart Cink, John Daly, David Duval, Jim Furyk, Lucas Glover, Zach Johnson, Justin Leonard, Hunter Mahan, Phil Mickelson, Geoff Ogilvy just to name a few. While it was a nice story that local youngster Jordan Spieth from Dallas played well in the tournament, this weeks tournament shouldn’t need a story like that to captivate golf fans. Thanks to the fact that the Crowne Plaza Invitational at the Colonial has a deeper field, the ratings and attendance should be improved. The Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial
The Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial or simply the Colonial is one of four invitational tournaments held on the PGA Tour. The Colonial Tournament is played annually in Fort Worth, Texas at the Colonial Country Club, and is the longest running event to be played at its original site.
Last years winner Lefty Phil Mickelson will not participate in this years Colonial Tournament. Mickelson’s wife was diagnosed with breast cancer and Phil wants to be there to care for her and his kids. Lefty has suspended his 2009 schedule indefinitely.
