Dallas Mavericks Schedule February

January 29, 2010 by · Leave a Comment

Dallas Mavericks Logo

The Dallas Mavericks lead the NBA Southwest Standings at the beginning of February. Coach Rick Carlisle shook up the team’s starting lineup, Jason “Jet” Terry is now starting at 2 guard. Terry has responded with great shooting, he replaces Josh Howard who has not been consistent this season to say the least.

The NBA schedule for February 2010 will have the Mavs playing 13 games, 7 on the road and 6 at the American Airlines Center. The two games that I recommend going to see if you live in Dallas are against the Lakers and Suns. Below you will find what TV channel and game time for the Mavs. Cheap Tickets for the Mavericks games are still available at StubHub.com!.

Dallas Mavericks superstar Dirk Nowitzki surpassed 20,000 points with 10:57 left to go in the 4th quarter of the Mavericks-Lakers game on Wednesday January 13 2010. Dirk received the ball from who else but Jason “Jet” Terry, the duo has been a staple of the Mavericks offense for quite a while now.

During the Dallas Mavericks vs Los Angeles Lakers game broadcaster Mark Followill stated that Dirk Nowitzki will move into the top 30 scorers in NBA history assuming that he stays healthy this season. Dirk finished the game with 30 points 16 rebounds in the Mavericks loss.

Dallas Mavericks (19-7, 1st in Southwest)

While no one paid much attention to the Dallas Mavericks in the sportsbook when they were leading the Southwest Division after November, they are finally starting to garner some national praise now that they are still in the lead in late December.

Even so, most pundits still believe that the San Antonio Spurs will win the division, the Mavericks have been doing their part so far by winning 19 of their first 26 games.

The Mavs have won five straight and won comfortably on Wednesday, something they haven’t done consistently this year. The Mavs have had some trouble holding on to big leads. A prime example was the 21-point first half lead against New Orleans on Monday that they let slip away. They eventually won by just four points.

The good news, though, is they are 8-1 this year in games decided by five points or less.

Dallas Stars (14-9-10, 4th in Pacific)

The Dallas Stars were road warriors in the first month of the season but now all of the sudden the magic is gone.

It took eight road games for the Stars to lose their first contest in regulation but recently, they’ve been doing a lot more losing away from home. Those who wager on sports have seen the Stars lose five of their last six games on the road.

There hasn’t been a significant change in philosophy or talent to spark the change, which makes them an enigma right now.

Dallas is struggling. They have notched points in five of their last six games but they only have two wins in their last seven games.

One culprit that can be blamed recently – just on Wednesday – is the penalty kill. Those gambling online should note that the Stars had killed off 42 of their last 44 prior to giving up two power play goals to Carolina en route to a 5-3 loss.

Texas Rangers (Offseason)

It was supposed to be a quiet offseason in Texas given the ownership conundrum but the Rangers were anything but that at winter meetings.

The Rangers shipped off Kevin Millwood and $3 million to the Baltimore Orioles for Chris Ray and Ben Snyder, then used the savings from the deal to sign Rich Harden to a one-year, $7.5 million contract.

Harden comes with the injury risks but he has the upside to be a No. 1 starter as he previous was in the West with the Oakland Athletics.

The simple sportsbook 101 shows that Millwood was just 62-63 in 125 starts with Texas while Harden was 43-24 over that same span.

Dallas Sports Roundup – December 3

A Florida Alabama betting preview may be the most important piece of information to any Dallas sports fan this week, as the big SEC title game could affect the Texas Longhorns’ fate. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t important happenings among our other Dallas teams! Let’s catch up with the Mavs, Stars and Rangers.

Dallas Mavericks (14-5, 1st Southwest)

The good news continues for Mark Cuban’s Mavs, who simply aren’t letting go of the Southwest division lead. Dallas fell to Cleveland on the road last week but that was an acceptable blemish on an otherwise nice run, which includes four wins in five games. The most recent triumph came in New Jersey. The Mavs staked their claim to history when they defied the online sportsbook odds and handed the Nets their new NBA-record 18th straight loss to start the season. Dallas sizzled, setting a franchise record of its own by shooting 81 per cent in the first half.

Dallas still won’t see Josh Howard (ankle) back for a while but Erik Dampier’s return from his mysterious malady – dubbed “arm numbness” for now – gave the Mavs and sports betting supporters a shot in the arm. He was rusty on Monday but had 18 points, 11 boards and two blocks versus New Jersey.

Dallas Stars (12-8-7, 4th Pacific)

Life in the Western Conference is tough. The Dallas Stars’ 31 points in 27 games puts them on pace for at least 93 points but still leaves them tied for the last playoff spot. Losing three of four to end November didn’t help things – nor did a vicious stretch that saw them play eight games in 13 nights as part of the NHL’s condensing the schedule for the Olympics.

While goal scorers Loui Eriksson and James Neal have cooled off, Brenden Morrow is back on track now that he’s reunited with Mike Ribeiro. Morrow has scored in four straight games.

Texas Rangers (Offseason)

While the Dallas CowboysSuper Bowl odds climb, the jury is still out on the Texas Rangers’ chances for next year as MLB free agency just starts to get going. Possible signees may have to wait until the Rangers’ ownership situation sorts itself out. Tom Hicks is reportedly weighting two different offers, each exceeding $500 million.

Dallas Sports Roundup – November 17

Well, the Cowboys’ NFL odds took one on the chin last weekend, but the news isn’t all bad for Dallas sports teams. The Mavericks in particular are pulling their weight as we peruse the sports happenings in the Lone Star State.

Dallas Mavericks (8-3, 1st Southwest)

The good times keep rolling in Dallas. The Mavs have been on the road all week…and they’re doing just fine. They beat Minnesota, Detroit and Milwaukee, extending their winning streak to three games, and they’ve won five of six overall. Monday night’s game against the Bucks ended dramatically as Dirk Nowitzki drained a buzzer beater, bouncing a ball off the rim and backboard. The news isn’t completely good for the Mavs, however. Shawn Marion sprained his ankle Monday night and may miss some time. Erik Dampier is out with an illness. That means the depth that has been Dallas’ strength this year is suddenly gone. Can the Mavs handle tough tests later this month against the Spurs and Cavaliers if they’re shorthanded?

In the bright side, the injuries are giving youngsters like Roddy Beaubois more playing time. The rookie guard has back-to-back double-digit scoring efforts to his name, is shooting 61.8 per cent from the field and has made five of nine three-point attempts so far this season.

Dallas Stars (8-5-6, 3rd Pacific)

The plucky Stars keep doing their thing and spoiling sportsbook spreads in the process, never getting blown out. Strangely, they’ve lost more overtime games (six) than regulation games this season.   Marty Turco remains surprisingly consistent in goal, still sporting a 2.25 goals against average and .920 save percentage, and sophomore James Neal’s 10 goals put him almost halfway to his rookie season total. The Stars are starting to tire, however. They’ve lost two of three, with the two defeats coming against beatable Phoenix and Minnesota. It’s likely the Stars are simply tiring after 12 days on the road.

Texas Rangers (Offseason)

Close, but no cigar for Elvis Andrus. The Rangers shortstop finished second in American League Rookie of the Year voting behind Oakland closer Andrew Bailey. Andrus came close to winning, garnering eight first-place votes. Bailey’s win was far less of a surprise than the NL result, as Chris Coghlan’s win wrecked many sports betting sharps’ predictions.

The speculation regarding Texas’ offseason continues. While they’re still loosely linked to Roy Halladay, their payroll makes them as likely to land Doc as the Houston Texans’ Super Bowl odds – still a long shot. The Rangers are certainly seeking a right-handed power bat for the middle of their order. Rumored options are Vladimir Guerrero, Jermaine Dye and switch-hitting Milton Bradley (in a swap for Kevin Millwood?).

Shawn Marion - The Matrix - Dallas Mavs

The Dallas Mavericks have been an up and down team so far this season, but that is to be expected with the new pieces they have brought into the mix. The most impressive win so far this season is no doubt the 94 to 80 beating that Dirk and the boys put on the Lakers in LA. The mavs will play the Spurs twice in the month of November once in Dallas and once in San Antonio. TV Channels and times are listed after the jump:

Dallas Sports Roundup – October 20 2009

The Texas RangersWorld Series odds slip to the back of our minds as we watch their competition compete in the ALCS, so Dallas Sports fans’ focus turns to the hardwood and the ice this week. Let’s chase down our teams and see what’s new.

Dallas Mavericks

The preseason news is good for the Mavs, as they’ve now won four straight games. Plenty of things are looking up for the Mavs. Not fulfilling World Championship, Olympic or German National team obligations for the first time in years, Dirk Nowitzki is fresh as can be. He’s shooting 63 per cent from the floor. Online betting fans will warn you that stats like those don’t matter, but it’s certainly encouraging to see Dirk rejuvenated.

The Mavs even have a special plan to get the most out of Erik Dampier and Drew Gooden, who are penciled in as “co-starters” at center. Head coach Rick Carlisle plans to play Dampier against the giants and Gooden against average-sized centers.

Dallas Stars

The Stars aren’t perfect like the Broncos’ NFL odds but they’re pesky so far, opening the year 3-2-3. Blended between disappointing losses to L.A. and Boston were a 6-0 beating of the Nashville Predators and a very impressive 4-3 win at Chicago. Thanks to a mix of veteran and youth offense, the Stars are averaging more than three goals per game. Brenden Morrow and Brad Richards are bouncing back to elite scoring levels after missing time to injury last year; Mike Ribeiro seems poised to produce at a point-per-game clip for the third straight year; youngsters Jamie Benn and James Neal continue to surprise, each tallying seven points in eight games.

The news isn’t all good; longtime Dallas stalwarts and Stanley Cup champions Mike Modano and Jere Lehtinen both landed on injured reserve this week – Modano with a rib injury and Lehtinen with a groin injury.

Texas Rangers

The Rangers are determined to boost their World Series odds for next year and have already started working on 2010. They sent blue-chip pitcher Derek Holland to Japan to help court Japanese pitching prospect Yusei Kikuchi, an 18-year-old whose electric arsenal reportedly includes 96 MPH heat.

Kikuchi reportedly showed genuine interest in pitching for a Major League Club and Holland said he felt the meeting went well. Only time will tell if the Rangers add Japanese flavor to their rotation for next season.

Sports Roundup

While the Cowboys’ NFL odds (8.5-point favorite) didn’t deliver – how did the Chiefs play our boys that tough? – They at least emerged with a “W” over the weekend. Let’s catch up with the rest of our Dallas Sports teams.

Dallas Mavericks

It’s only preseason, yes, but it’s always nice to see the Mavs in the win column. After losing a squeaker in their opener, they’ve rattled off consecutive wins. First, Dallas downed the Washington Wizards 123-115 in a road contest. Five Mavs scored 14 or more points – including surprising newcomer Kris Humphries – and Shawn Marion led the way with 26 on 11/15 shooting.

Next up, the Mavericks downed Memphis 114-107 and Humphries was the big story again. He had 16 points and nine boards in just 21 minutes of play; he’s making the case for a bigger role than he had as a Toronto Raptor.

Dallas Stars

If there’s an early message for hockey fans and sportsbook bettors this season in the Lone Star State, it’s that the Kids Are All Right. I’m betting management and owner Tom Hicks hoped the youth movement would be ahead of schedule after Dallas did little to improve via free agency this offseason and, so far, the hopes are being answered. The Stars have won just one of their first four games but haven’t lost in regulation. Youngsters James Neal and Jamie Benn have been bright spots, combining for four goals and seven points over that span.

Texas Rangers

As the Rangers’ offseason begins, it appears they’ll let several big-name players walk in free agency. Hank Blalock, once a cornerstone of the franchise, simply has too many holes in his swing and can’t hit lefties. Omar Vizquel could retire any day now, as could Eddie Guardado; Andruw Jones is a shadow of his former self. The trickiest situation is that of Marlon Byrd, whose price will rise significantly after he led the team with 89 RBI this season. Whatever happens, the Rangers remain on the way to becoming better baseball picks to make the playoffs in 2010.
