Dallas Sports Fan – Rangers Moving Up, Cowboys Fall Hard
September 15, 2011 by Guest Contributor · Leave a Comment
Texas wants to delay that bass fishing trip at the end of the season, as they are looking for another long run in the postseason and they’re inching closer to their goal as we head towards the finish line for the regular season in Major League Baseball. On the gridiron, Dallas showed they could hang with one of the best teams in the league……for three quarters.
Heading into Thursday’s series finale against Cleveland at home, the Rangers had won four of their last five, taking two of three at the Ballpark against Oakland, and they had won the first two games of their series with the Indians. This gives the Rangers a three-game lead over the Los Angeles Angels, and they could really boost their MLB betting chances with a big week on the road as they travel to Seattle and Oakland in the next week. Texas would love to have the division wrapped up by the time they go to Anaheim to conclude the season, and their rivals are also on the road all week (the Angels will be in Baltimore and Toronto). The edge should go to the Rangers as they’ll be staying on the West Coast, while the Angels go across the country and up to Canada, and this is a massive week for Texas.
You should receive a sports betting bonus for predicting a fourth-quarter meltdown for Tony Romo as the Cowboys gave away a win, falling 27-24 on the road against the New York Jets in a primetime opener on Sunday night. It was the first time in their history that the Cowboys had lost after holding a fourth-quarter lead of 14 points or more, and Romo was at the heart of it with a fumble on the Jets’ three-yard line, and then he threw a pick to the Jets’ Darrelle Revis in Dallas territory to set up New York’s game-winning field goal. But the Cowboys have to pick themselves up quickly as they head out on the road again, this time to San Francisco to face the 49ers and Dallas will be a 3-point favorite against their old rivals. The Cowboys figure to be one of the most popular NFL picks of the week as the 49ers were somewhat fortunate to come away with a win at home against a poor Seattle team, and you have to figure that the Cowboys will be heated after handing a victory to the Jets (who, to their credit, forced the Cowboys into making the mistakes they made). It’s not time to jump off the bandwagon, but Dallas has to step up their execution in the final 15 minutes to move into the elite of NFL sports betting favorites.
Dallas Sports Fan – Rangers Hanging On In AL West, Cowboys Kick Off Preseason Slate

Those who bet football online are gearing up for the beginning of preseason as the NFL prepares to kick off on Thursday night, and Dallas will be on the schedule to show their fans and sports betting players alike what they’re working with. But first, start with baseball where Texas is holding off Los Angeles in the American League West, and the two will face off this week.
The Rangers are off on Thursday as they head out on the road after a six-game homestand in which they went 4-2, taking two of three from Cleveland and Seattle. This next week is the time to pay close attention to MLB baseball news, though, as the Rangers begin a 10-game road trip that begins in Oakland against the Athletics, but the big story will start on Monday as the Rangers will be Los Angeles (technically, Anaheim) to face the Angels. While these two American League West clubs still meet six times after next week’s series, this four-game set is going to be huge for a number of reasons. However, that doesn’t mean they can look past the Athletics, who have been on the road since the beginning of the month and will be happy to be back on the West Coast.
The Cowboys begin their preseason slate against Denver at home, and there will be a couple of reasons to watch this game, other than the fact that football is back and you don’t need a lot of reasons. Tony Romo should get his first game action since Week 6 of last year, when he was knocked out of the lineup and even though he’ll only play one or two series, it’ll be good to have him on the field. Also, the Cowboys have some rookies who were solid NFL picks in the draft and they should get some action; offensive tackle Tyron Smith, linebacker Bruce Carter and running back Demarco Murray should all see some time, and Murray is one to watch as news has emerged that the Cowboys may be parting ways with Tashard Choice, who is currently injured. Murray has a chance to move into a backfield that already has Felix Jones, so he’ll want to take advantage of his opportunities. Things don’t really start to pick up in the preseason until the third game, but the lockout has made this preseason different because players just got together two weeks ago, and there was a lot of free-agent movement. A lot of people are playing with each other for the first time, so that could lend more intensity to this game, making them a tough call in your sports betting book.
Dallas Sports Fan – Rangers Kick Off Second Half, Bryant Tells Cowboys Not To Worry
July 14, 2011 by Guest Contributor · Leave a Comment
MLB betting players are getting ready for the second half of the baseball season, and Texas is aiming to carry their momentum from the end of the first half over. Meanwhile, while the NFL is no closer to ending the lockout, that doesn’t mean there aren’t stories coming out of the Cowboys’ camp.
The Rangers swept Baltimore and Oakland at home to wrap up the first half, and then they sent five players to Arizona to play in the All-Star Game. Josh Hamilton started in center field, while Adrian Beltre was promoted to start at third base as New York’s Alex Rodriguez pulled out because of a knee injury. Pitchers Alexi Ogando and C.J. Wilson represented the team, as well as veteran Michael Young, and the Rangers made an impact on the game. Hamilton and Beltre got two of the American League’s six hits, while Young struck out in his lone at-bat. Ogando pitched a perfect 0.2 of an inning, but Wilson allowed three runs on three hits, including a homer to Milwaukee’s Prince Fielder, to take the loss as the American League fell 5-1 at Chase Field. The Rangers know how important of an MLB score the All-Star Game can be, as San Francisco earned homefield advantage in last year’s win, and that was a major factor in their World Series victory over Texas. Meanwhile, the Rangers will resume their season on Thursday with a four-game series in Seattle, and then Texas will head to Los Angeles (technically, Anaheim) for three games, and this is a crucial stretch for the Rangers, who lead the West by a game over the Angels and 7.5 games over the Mariners. If they can manage win five of those seven games, Texas’ BetOnline odds to win the West should improve.
The Cowboys, like everyone else, are still waiting to see if a deal can be worked out, but they were in the news for another reason as former Cowboy Deion Sanders claimed that he was worried about former protégé Dez Bryant, who lost a year of NCAA experience for lying about his interaction with Sanders. Bryant was hampered with injuries in his rookie season, but when he was on the field, he proved to be the most impressive receiver on the roster, but he is being sued for jewelry that he allegedly didn’t pay for, and that is just one of the off-field problems that are following the ridiculously talented 22-year-old. Bryant responded by saying no one needs to worry about him, which sounds about right from a 22-year-old, and the Cowboys have to be really patient with Bryant, who is a game-changer when his head is right. If he can stay out of trouble, a healthy and focused Bryant will be a major factor in the Cowboys’ sports betting odds for this season.
Dallas Sports Fan – Rangers Will Send Four To Phoenix, Stars Aggressive In Free Agency
July 7, 2011 by Guest Contributor · Leave a Comment
MLB betting players in Dallas are getting ready for the All-Star break, but first Texas has to get through the final weekend of the first half of the season with the lead in the American League West. In NHL hockey news, the Stars were surprisingly aggressive in the first week of free agency.
The Rangers had a rough weekend last week at home against Florida, dropping two out of three to the National League East club, but they rebounded nicely with a three-game sweep of Baltimore at home, scoring 13 runs in two of the three meetings. Texas now has a one-game lead over the Los Angeles Angels in the West as they head into a four-game set at the Ballpark against Oakland, and then the Rangers will send four players to the All-Star Game in Phoenix, and those following MLB news will see Josh Hamilton as a starter once again, although he will sit out the Home Run Derby. C.J. Wilson also makes the team, as well as Adrian Beltre and Michael Young, who was supposed to be traded out of Texas ahead of the season. The Rangers will then begin the second half of the campaign in Seattle, who are also still hanging tough in the West despite a perennially anemic offense.
NHL free agency kicked off last Friday on July 1st, and the Stars were busy on both ends. Dallas knew they were resigned to losing Brad Richards as he wanted a long-term deal that the Stars weren’t willing to offer. The New York Rangers then tried to boost their sports betting odds for next season by signing Richards to a nine-year, $58.5 million deal, and that was definitely out of the Stars’ budget. Dallas also lost Aaron Gagnon, but the Stars didn’t sit back and mourn. Michael Ryder, fresh off a Stanley Cup with Boston, signed with the Stars for two years and $7 million, and they’re hoping that he can reignite a spark with Mike Ribiero, who was his linemate in Montreal. The Stars also signed defenseman Sheldon Souray, who had been playing in the AHL last year as Edmonton tried to get rid of his hefty salary, and the Stars are hoping that he can be a power-play quarterback as he still possesses one of the biggest shots in the NHL. Radek Dvorak also decided to come to Dallas as they look to reload after their best player left, and they didn’t do a bad job, especially at a fraction of the cost. However, while the Stars have made some good moves, they probably won’t be a popular play in next year’s sports betting odds.
Dallas Sports Fans – Mavericks Waiting For Next Opponent, Rangers Aim To Pick It Up Before Road Trip
May 12, 2011 by Guest Contributor · Leave a Comment
Even those checking out Preakness Stakes odds had to have been surprised by the Dallas Mavericks, who ensured that the NBA will have a new champion for the first time in three years, but the way in which they did it was stunning. In MLB action, the Texas Rangers are shake themselves out of a sluggish period before they head out on the road.
Dallas Mavericks
The Mavericks have now won six in a row after a four-game sweep of the two-time defending champions from Los Angeles, and the 122-86 finish of Game 4 in Dallas was one of the most surprising NBA scores that anyone could have thought of. After coming back from 16 points down in Game 1 in Dallas, the Mavericks really looked confident in themselves, and they controlled each game after that, but a 36-point trouncing? They also goaded the Lakers into a couple of cheap fouls which took the shine off of Phil Jackson’s last game (for now) as coach, and the Mavericks can take a lot of pride in being the team that took down the most recent edition of the Los Angeles empire. Now, the Mavericks can rest for a few days as they wait for the Oklahoma City-Memphis series to wrap up, and J.J. Barea would love to have those days as he suffered wrist and rib injuries when Andrew Bynum took him out in mid-air in the fourth quarter of Game 4.
Texas Rangers
The Rangers have dropped seven of their last 10, and they had lost four straight series. The New York Yankees took two of three in Texas, and they had split the first two games against the Athletics before Wednesday’s finale was postponed. MLB betting players will now see the American League West as a three-horse race between Los Angeles, Texas and Oakland, and none of those teams have looked impressive lately, which means they could be battling with Seattle at some point, although that may be a stretch. The Angels will be in town this weekend for a three-game set, and they’ll be looking to increase the lead in the West, but the Rangers just have to find a level of consistency before they go on the road, starting with a trip to Chicago to face the White Sox. One of the main problems Texas has injuries to their starters: Alexi Ogando is out with a blister, although he shouldn’t miss a start, if any, and Tommy Hunter is out for a couple weeks because of an ailing groin. Scott Feldman (knee) and Brandon Webb (shoulder) are both getting ready to throw in the minors, but the Rangers need to get back to full strength in the rotation to boost their online sports betting odds.
Dallas Sports Fan – Mavericks Try To Get Rid Of Blazers, Rangers Still Top Of The West
April 28, 2011 by Guest Contributor · Leave a Comment
There is still time to bet on the Kentucky Derby as the race is next weekend, but Dallas-area fans have plenty to keep them occupied as the Mavericks are locked in a tough first-round matchup in the NBA playoffs, Texas is staying in front of Los Angeles in the American League West, and the Cowboys are looking towards the defensive line for Thursday’s draft.
The Mavericks will be in Portland on Thursday night as they look to close out their series against Portland, but they’ll be the underdogs as the home team has won the first five games of the series. Portland’s home crowd may be the loudest in the league, and Dallas hasn’t been able to keep them quiet. The Mavericks have to bring the same energy on the road as they do at home, and they also have to be more aggressive going to the hoop, especially Dirk Nowitzki, who averages eight more trips to the foul line at home than he has been in Portland. If the Mavericks can’t end the series on Thursday, Game 7 will be in Dallas on Saturday, so it’s coming down to the wire for the Mavericks.
MLB betting players have watched the Rangers race out to a great start at home, where they have won 11 of their first 15 games at the Ballpark. Texas is wrapping up a 10-game homestand on Thursday afternoon against Toronto, and a win would give them a split after they lost the first two games of the series. This follows a sweep of Kansas City last weekend, and the Rangers will head into Thursday’s game with a 1.5-game lead over the Los Angeles Angels in the West as they prepare to head out on the road for the week. On Friday, the Rangers will travel to Oakland to kick off a four-game set with the Athletics, then Texas will be in Seattle for three games against the Mariners. Both are division rivals, so a few wins over the week could give them some breathing room atop the division.
Teams will be getting ready to make their NFL picks on Thursday night in New York City, and a lot of mock drafts are saying that the Cowboys will lean towards a defensive lineman, particularly an end to fit into their 3-4 defense. The Cowboys could also end up going with an offensive tackle as they have to do a better job of protecting quarterback Tony Romo, but the position of defensive line is much deeper than their offensive counterparts. Either way, Dallas will be making a strong effort to improve their sports betting odds for next season (whenever it starts).
With Hamilton sidelined, Rangers’ offense struggles
September 26, 2010 by AdamCrouch · Leave a Comment
Without All-Star Josh Hamilton in the lineup, the Rangers have stumbled to a 2-5 start on their current West coast road trip. On full display Thursday were the Rangers offensive struggles in a 5-0 loss at Oakland, in which Dallas Braden (10-13) and Brad Ziegler limited Texas to 1 hit in a dominating shutout. Though Cliff Lee wasn’t spectacular, surrendering 4 ER over 5 innings, the Rangers once again failed to do anything productive at the plate.
Since leaving Arlington, the Rangers offense has produced only 14 runs over their past 7 games. In their previous 7 games in Arlington, all of which were wins, Texas scored a grand total of 51 runs, or 7.3 runs/game. Their offensive struggles can’t be pinned on 1 individual, as Ian Kinsler (4 for 26), Michael Young (4 for 29), Vladimir Guerrero (6 for 28) and Nelson Cruz (6 for 24) have all been dreadful. If not for the Rangers pitching staff, which has a respectable 2.80 ERA on the current trip, things could be much worse for the club. In a span of 5 days, the Rangers once untouchable 10 game lead has withered to 7 games with 10 remaining.
With Josh Hamilton targeting the final 3 games of the season for his return, the current Rangers lineup will have to improve upon their poor production. If the Rangers can salvage a 4 game split this weekend, the team can relax knowing they have clinched their first AL West crown since 1999. A sweep at the hand of the Athletics would surely make things interesting as Texas returns home for a 7 game home stand against the Mariners and Angels.
With Tommy Hunter (12-4) on the hill Friday, the Rangers can put themselves in position to seal the division this weekend with a win. Stay tuned.
Texas Rangers Schedule 2009 | July
July 2, 2009 by Matt Lawrence · 1 Comment

The Rangers got bumped from first place due to a power outage in their batting lineup. Although their 11 wins and 15 losses is not bad considering the lack of offense they displayed in June. July brings the All Star Break and the return of Josh Hamilton will hopefully allow the Rangers to turn their current slide around. Hamilton is currently on a rehab assignment with the Texas Rangers various minor league teams including the Frisco Rough Riders and is expected to return in early July. Julio Borbon the Ranger’s center field prospect is now up with the team and their have been rumblings that pitching prospect Neftali Feliz is on his way to the Texas Rangers Bullpen.
Texas Rangers Schedule – TV & Tickets
The Rangers will be on Fox Sports Southwest for most of July except for the lone game on ESPN against the Rays. The Rangers will host the Rays on the 4th of July, and Rangers Tickets are still available for this game and others.
