Why Hull and Jackson are Out
The <a href="http://www.dallassportsfans.com/category/dallas-stars-nhl/"title="Dallas Stars News" >Dallas Stars have decided to go in a different direction in their front offices. Brett Hull and Les Jackson served as co-general managers for the 2008-2009 NHL season. One of the main reasons that Hull and Jackson will be reassigned to different roles is the Sean Avery signing that will still hurt the Dallas Stars salary cap in the years to come. Sean Avery ruined team chemistry and made public comments about previous girlfriends that earned him a suspension from the NHL and a release from the Dallas Stars. He returned to the New York Rangers and the Stars are left to pay for a portion of his oversized contract.

New Dallas Stars General Manager, Joe Nieuwendyk
The Dallas Stars new General Manager will be Joe Nieuwendyk, who like Brett Hull was a member of the 1999 Dallas Stars Stanley Cup championship team. Joe was the awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy, which goes to the most valuable player in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Nieuwendyk was traded from the Stars to the New Jersey Devils in the 2001-2002 season. He finished his playing career as a Florida Panther in the 2006-2007 season. Joe Nieuwendyk brings experience as the Stars new General Manager, last season Joe served as the special assistant to the General Manager for the Toronto Maple Leafs. Nieuwendyk has also held similar positions for team Canada and the Florida Panthers. His other qualifications include attending Cornell for three years, as well as winning Stanley Cups with three different teams in his 20 year career.

Dallas Stars Moving Forward
Brett Hull and Les Jackson will be retained in the Dallas Stars front office. Les Jackson will return to his former post overseeing the Stars scouting department. Brett Hull will now serve as the Executive Vice President and Alternate Governor; before he served as co-GM he was the Ambassador of Fun.

Returning to a single GM will help this team to move forward with one leader for player personnel. This will help the team focus on the players needed to continue signing players that fit into the Stars defensive system. Next year barring all of the injuries and personnel mistakes the Dallas Stars should return to the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
