November 5, 2009 by · Leave a Comment

Shawn Marion - The Matrix - Dallas Mavs

The Dallas Mavericks have been an up and down team so far this season, but that is to be expected with the new pieces they have brought into the mix. The most impressive win so far this season is no doubt the 94 to 80 beating that Dirk and the boys put on the Lakers in LA. The mavs will play the Spurs twice in the month of November once in Dallas and once in San Antonio. TV Channels and times are listed after the jump:

Dallas Cowboys at Philadelphia Eagles

November 2, 2009 by · 4 Comments

Dallas Cowboys Stadium - Tony Romo - Flozell AdamsLast Week: Bobby Carpenter recorded a sack….no really he did. The Dallas Cowboys ran over the Seattle Seahawks to a tune of 38 – 17. The Cowboys have looked great in both of their wins over Atlanta and Seattle, but their real test will come this week against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Last Year: The Cowboys and Eagles split their two meetings, but the Eagles win over the Cowboys at the end of the season has left a bad taste in the mouths of Dallas Sports Fans. The Eagles thumped the Cowboys 44 – 6 in the final game of the 2008 season. The most disheartening part about this loss is that a win would have ensured the Cowboys a playoff spot and they lost by 38 points.

This Year: The Cowboys have improved their record with 2 impressive wins over the Falcons and Seahawks in recent weeks. Tony Romo has not thrown an interception in a few games and the team is getting healthy. The hated Eagles have been a very up and down team this year, they lost to the Raiders, but have posted impressive wins over the Redskins and Giants in recent weeks. This game is pretty unpredictable, but Vegas has the Eagles winning by 3.

Dallas Stars Schedule – October 2009

This season the Dallas Stars team looks quite a bit different from years past. Changes to the team have taken place in the front office as well as the roster this off season. Lets start from the top on down, Tom Hicks still owns the team, but by all accounts (except for his mouth) he is flat broke. Hicks does not plan to sell the Stars, but is trying to move the Texas Rangers. So for now we are stuck with Tom, but he has always taken better care of the stars than the Rangers so this should not be a problem.

Dallas Cowboys at Denver Broncos | NFL Week 4

September 30, 2009 by · Leave a Comment

Tashard Choice - Dallas Cowboys RB

After last weeks win the Dallas Cowboys have 2 wins and 1 loss. The Cowboys rallied in the second half to beat the Panthers 21 – 7, and now face an undefeated Broncos team.

Denver Broncos
The Broncos have a new look this year thanks to the departure of head coach Mike Shanahan and Quarterback Jay Cutler. Josh McDaniels has taken over as the head coach of the Broncos, and his decisions have been questioned since it is believed that he is responsible for Jay Cutler’s departure. The Broncos wins have been over the Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns, and Oakland Raiders. The Raiders and Browns have a combined record of 1 – 5 and the Broncos did not dominate Cincinnati in their 12 – 7 win, so in other words the Broncos are a very weak 3 – 0 and have not been tested. The Broncos WRs Barandon Marshall and Eddie Royal will test the Cowboys secondary in this matchup.

Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys running back position is not looking as deep as it was at the beginning of the season due to Marion Barber and Felix Jones injuries. Felix is believed to be out for this game, and it is questionable whether Marion Barber will be available. Barber was a no show on the Cowboys Stadium sidelines for the Panthers game, the team is saying that he was getting treatment during the game. It is more likely that he was angry the Cowboys wouldn’t let him play, but you can decide for yourself. Running Back Tashard Choice was pressed into duty and did not disappoint, he ran for 82 yards and a TD and caught 4 balls for 36 more yards. Other roster news that came down this week is that Michael Jenkins is now the full time starting Corner Back for the Dallas Cowboys, he had been rotating with Orlando Scandrick who will now serve as the 3rd CB.

Texas Rangers Schedule | September 2009

August 28, 2009 by · Leave a Comment

Indians Rangers Baseball
Texas Rangers Schedule September 2009
As August winds down the Texas Rangers find themselves in unfamiliar territory, they’re sporting a winning record and have an outside chance to win the AL West. The Rangers went to Yankee Stadium and won 2 out of their 3 games against one of the hottest teams in baseball. Even if the Texas Rangers can’t catch up to the Los Angeles Angels and win the AL West, they are still in the middle of the Wild Card Playoff race with the Boston Red Sox. If the Ranger’s bullpen and pitching staff can keep it together for 6 more weeks we might get to see them in the playoffs in 2009. Things are looking up for the Texas Rangers bats as well with the return of Ian Kinsler from the DL, Chris Davis from the minors, and Josh Hamilton from his season long slump. At the end of the Rangers September schedule we should have a clear picture whether or not playoffs are just a dream or if the’re an actual possibility.

Keys to a successful September:

  • Stay Healthy
  • Keep Hitting: Josh Hamilton and Ian Kinsler need to keep it up.
  • Rotation: Millwood needs to pitch like an Ace. He as allowed 5ER’s in each of his last 2 starts.
  • Bullpen: Looked a little shaky in August, Message to Ron Washington – Please do not pitch Franky in back to back days.

Texas Rangers TV and Game Schedule – September 2009
Fox Sports Southwest will carry most of the Rangers September games, although kdfi has 2 games and FOX has 1. If you haven’t made it to the Ballpark in Arlington, you need to go see the Rangers and their new winning ways before the regular season is over.
I had Rangers tickets to the Boston series and the ballpark was packed with mostly Rangers fans, but as always the bandwagon Texas Red Sox fans were their too.

Wild Card Standings

  Team Games Back Games Left
1.) Boston Red Sox - 0
2.) Detroit Tigers 9.5 0
3.) Seattle Mariners 10.0 0

Last chance up north: 2009 PGA Championship TV Schedule and Preview

July 22, 2009 by · 2 Comments

2009 PGA ChampionshipAfter a scintillating British Open (even without Tiger Woods making the cut), the 2009 PGA Championship is coming up fast, set to begin August 13 at Hazeltine Golf Club in Minnesota. Tiger Woods will be looking to rebound after only the second missed cut in a major in his career.

Hazeltine has hosted big championships before, with the 1970 and 1991 U.S. Opens both being held there along with the 2002 PGA Championship.

Padraig Harrington is trying to defend his title in the 2009 PGA Championship, but has struggled with swing changes this year and that was evident at the British Open, opening at -1 but finishing at +12.

Here are some other past winners for the PGA Championship, hoping to add their name to the trophy again in 2009: Read more

2009 British Open TV Schedule

July 15, 2009 by · 5 Comments

TigerWoodsThe 2009 British Open should be one for the books. Besides returning to Turnberry, the site of one of the most famous tournaments in golf history (Watson against Nicklaus in the 1977 “Duel in the Sun”), the championship gets a boost from Tiger Woods, returning after missing last year’s Open Championship. But in order to win the 2009 British Open, he’ll have to beat the two-time defending champ, Padraig Harrington.

Phil Mickelson will not be competing in the 2009 British Open, deciding instead to stay home with his wife Amy, who is battling breast cancer. The last few years have been nothing short of outstanding, even including Harrington’s four shot win last year. That may seem like a huge margin on the surface, but the tournament was quite intriguing with Greg Norman making a bid for his third major championship. Who will surprise at the 2009 British Open? Here’s the TV schedule for you to see for yourself.
